Welcome
to ReDiscovery: classical recordings of the past refurbished and
offered on compact disc and as high-resolution unencrypted 320kbps
downloads. We are the premier source
for otherwise unavailable performances by some of the most celebrated
musicians of their time, as well as memorable work by artists all but
forgotten today. Our July-August release: Dean Dixon conducts the Prague Symphony Orchestra: MENDELSSOHN: Symphony 3 Scottish John Frandsen conducts the Royal Danish Orchestra: MENDELSSOHN: Midsummer Night's Dream Overture CD: $12 - Download: $4 Dean Dixon is best known for his work with the American Recording Society, as well as the many outstanding performances released on Westminster. But in later years he made a number of recordings for European labels, including this expansively Romantic reading of Mendelssohn's 3rd symphony. John Frandsen's first-rate performances of Nielsen and his contemporaries has tended to overshadow the fine work he did on more mainstream fare, such as Mendelssohn's best-loved overture. It was part of a collection of curtain-raisers taped for the British Saga label and licensed to other companies around the world. The Scottish Symphony is sourced from a mint condition stereo LP; sound quality is very good throughout. Frandsen's Overture is taken from an original Forum open reel tape. This release is also available via download: unencrypted 320kpbs mp3 files, properly labeled and tagged. High-resolution jpgs of the insert and cover are included.
